Sleeping Tips for Infants to help Reduce the risks of SIDS

1. Back To Sleep: Infants should be placed for sleep lying on there back.

Side sleeping is not as safe as {on the back} and is not advised

2. Use a firm sleep surface:

Soft materials like pillows, quilts and comforters  should not be placed under a sleeping infant.  A firm crib mattress, covered by a sheet is recommended.

3.Keep soft objectds and loose bedding out of the crib.

this includes, toys, stuufed animals.. blankets should come only to infants chest and feet to be touching bed. Or just simply put sleep clothing on and use no blankets.

4. DO NOT SMOKE DURING PREGNANCY!!!!

smoking while pregnant is a huge risk factor in most sids cases

5. Avoid over heating..

infant should be lightly clothed for sleep.. not wrapped in blankets and clothes.

Infant should not feel hot to the touch

These are just some of the major things to help reduce the risk but deffintaley not all.. for more information please visit.  Sidsnetwork.org or you can type sudden infant death into your search engine.
